Enjoy grand elegance within walking distance of the nation’s most cherished monuments, Capitol Hill, and the revered museums of the Smithsonian Institution. Ranked by Institutional Investor magazine as one of the top 100 hotels in the world, Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC creates memorable experiences for any traveler to the most powerful city in the world.
When building our hotel we were able to specify the qualities event planners value: natural light, terraces, views, privacy, direct loading access and branding opportunities.
Our spaces also offer originality: such as a working art gallery with a private elevator, a wall of windows, and a large flagstone patio overlooking the Jefferson Memorial. Our ballroom has direct access large enough to accommodate an automobile and is designed for an uninterrupted field of vision. And we are the only hotel with a 4,000 sq. ft. event lawn where guests can enjoy the sunset over the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial.

We offer fine Washington residences and our interiors blend Asian elegance with traditional style. Guests enjoy wonderful views over the stately city sights and waterfront. Our 53 spacious suites range in size from 600 to 3,500 sq. ft. Guests staying in Tai Pan Club Rooms and Suites can take advantage of Tai Pan services and amenities.
The 8,300 sq. ft. Grand Ballroom is a distinctive and elegant environment. There is simply not a bad seat in the house thanks to its near perfect square shape, lack of pillars and its high 18’ ceilings. An exclusive environment is maintained by private access and private restrooms. Technology and structure are designed for purpose with load bearing ceiling hang points for technical equipment. The ballroom is one of the only luxury environments that can accommodate an automobile and a vast loading bay has direct access to the space, eliminating the logistical problems when moving major equipment.
At Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC, our menus are as stylish as the surroundings. Whether you are dining at CityZen or eating at Sou’Wester, the dishes are sure to delight. And for a relaxing drink or cocktails, the Empress Lounge is the perfect place to unwind, whether indoors or al fresco on the riverside terrace.
At CityZen enjoy modern American cuisine coupled with flair, style and timeless sophistication. Visit Zen Bar and choose from some of the city’s finest martinis served in hand-blown stemware, or select from the over 700 wine options meticulously chosen by sommelier Andrew Myers. Relax in the restaurant’s lounge, where a large collection of single malt whiskeys and never-ending list of exotic concoctions are available.
Sou’Wester, which means strong winds hailing from the southwest, captures the essence of the restaurant. Natural light streams in from tall windows and an earthy color palette creates a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Tables are cherry wood finish and set with woven placemats. The chinaware is warmly colored, evoking a farmhouse feel. The menu reads with a Southern lilt and features traditional as well as interpretive takes on American classics such as Skillet Fried Chicken with Coleslaw, Chicken and Dumplings and Sautéed Red Snapper with Old Bay Chowder. An affordable wine selection and All-American craft beer list is offered, as well as an original cocktail menu based around fruit, herb and spice infusions.
Our spa is an oasis of holistic therapy for the body, mind and spirit. Our heat and water experience is like no other, offering guests a serene journey through a muscle soothing amethyst steam room to the crystal freshness of our ice fountain.
Throughout, warm neutral colors convey the feeling of earth and sun for serenity and relaxation. From the moment you walk into the reception area with its Zen-like ambiance enhanced by a burnished bronze ceiling, oak floors and light sycamore walls, the air is suffused with the fragrance of aromatherapy candles. From there, it's time to leave the real world behind and enter a new dimension of relaxation, which begins with a private consultation.
