The official name of the country is the Dominican Republic. The country covers an area of 48,442 KmP2P, divided into 29 provinces and the National District, Santo Domingo (Capital). The country has a coastline of 1,288 Km. bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.

The nationality is Dominican and the population is approximately 8,076,000.  The official language of the Dominican Republic is Spanish. However, due to the high level of tourism, English is spoken in most establishments.

An oceanic climate (also called maritime climate) with an average temperature of 27° C, the lowest ranging from 18° to 20° C and the highest ranging from 28° to 30° C. The ideal clothing for this area is informal and beach attire except during the evenings when the temperature tends to go down a few degrees depending on the season of the year and when the dress code requires otherwise at the a la carte restaurants.

The official currency of the Dominican Republic is the Dominican Peso, although the US Dollar is widely used in stores and for transportation in the different tourist areas. Most credit cards are accepted in stores, hotels and travel agencies.

Punta Cana is now the most sought after destination for rest and recreation in the Dominican Republic.  This surge in interest for Punta Cana is not an accident, since the area has miles of pristine white sand beaches, a deep turquoise sea, clear skies almost year round, and infinite starry nights. This paradise is located on the eastern tip of the island where the Caribbean meets the Atlantic. In addition to boasting the best deep-sea fishing in the world, the waters off the coast offer great snorkeling and diving excursions. Most of the coast is guarded by coral reefs, keeping the waters at the beach safe and calm for all swimmers.
