The newest choice for meetings and social celebrations in downtown Miami is now found in one of its most iconic landmarks—InterContinental Miami.
The 34-story waterfront hotel with sweeping views of Biscayne Bay and downtown Miami recently unveiled a significant transformation of its meeting and event space, the crowning touch to a property-wide makeover that already included renovation of all 653 guest rooms and suites, a new pool-deck experience and more.

While not altering the footprint, the hotel’s 135,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space now sports a whole new contemporary look and feel that complements its bayside location. With the goal of capturing the spirit of Miami, the Parker-Torres Design team incorporated a new color palette throughout the meeting rooms, blending soft oranges, shades of blue and muted greens. New customized art installations and wall treatments reflect the city’s color, movement and rich culture.
“The angle is coastal luxury,” said Philippe Parodi, Director of Sales and Marketing. “It’s a much more contemporary style that is in line with the rest of the hotel’s renovation. “There had been a disconnect between the new guest room product and the meeting space—now it’s all in sync in terms of color, artwork and style.”
Appeal for Social Events, Weddings

Along with stronger appeal for meetings, the transformed function space is also giving the hotel new cachet as a setting for weddings and other social events, a market especially desirable for weekends, Parodi noted.
“The colors in the ballroom were not the most appropriate for weddings, but now we have new carpeting and walls in beautiful tones of blue and gray as well as a spectacular chandelier,” he said. “Brides are going to absolutely love the colors and the lighting.”
Even before the renovation, the hotel’s meeting space was well configured for a wide variety of group business. Its centerpiece is the spectacular 14,000-square-foot Versailles Ballroom, complemented by exhibit and function areas conveniently centralized for easy access and flow. Then there’s the Sky Lawn, a 35,000-square-foot rooftop entertainment space where groups can enjoy the Miami weather and 360-degree views of Biscayne Bay and the city skyline.
Access to Top-Rated Spa, Amenities

Business and leisure guests alike enjoy the hotel’s amenities, including a top-rated spa and fitness center and multiple restaurants that include Toro Toro, a signature steakhouse, private kitchen dining at Table 40 and Freddy’s, an intimate, hidden speakeasy.
With its new look and improved functionality, the transformed space will further elevate InterContinental Miami’s standing as a leading venue for meetings and events in South Florida, according to Glenn Sampert, General Manager and Regional Director of Operations. He noted that it comes at a pivotal time as Miami experiences ever-growing popularity as a meetings destination and host city for international events,
“This renovation is about more than just aesthetics—it’s about creating immersive, adaptable space that meets the needs of today’s meeting planners and customers who want to host everything from intimate gatherings to grand affairs,” he said. “We’re especially excited about the integration of advanced event technology, enhanced lighting design and refined finishes that elevate the overall guest experience. These upgrades allow us to deliver a more dynamic, sophisticated environment while maintain the iconic energy and sense of place that defines our hotel.”
Investment in Technology

The renovation is coinciding with a $100 million investment in event technology from the hotel’s audio-visual partner Encore Global, which is aimed at helping planners deliver more engaging, efficient and immersive meeting experiences. New state-of-the-art enhancements include AI-powered content creation, real-time translation and summaries, advanced 3D event visualization tools, and expanded LED display solutions designed to simplify planning while elevating the attendee experience.
The investment also includes upgraded audio and production technologies that streamline event execution and ensure consistency across Encore-supported venues. As part of the initiative, Encore has introduced more competitive pricing by reducing customer rates for LED panels and related equipment, decreasing LED package pricing by an average of 35 percent.
With its new design and enhanced technology, InterContinental Miami is in position to continue growing its meeting business. It is now poised to expand into new corporate markets, along with strengthening its long-time base.

“The door has really opened up for more insurance and financial business, but we are also looking at strengthening markets such as healthcare and technology, especially in the AI field.”
“InterContinental Miami is also in position to consolidate its association business, especially during the slower summer season when rates are lower and availability is greater. This segment can provide a substantial base of Group business for 2028 and 2029,” Parodi said.
When hosting large groups, the hotel is able to impart a sense of exclusivity, he added. “We can do up to 600 rooms on peak, so we can pretty much give over the hotel. We do a lot of branding and customizing of the program throughout, so we can truly make it their home.”
