When guests arrive at the InterContinental Miami, a 34-story luxury hotel on Biscayne Bay, they receive a soulful introduction to the Brickell neighborhood, which is a dynamic and sophisticated district where art and business intersect.

The facade of the iconic bayfront hotel draws inspiration from the high-energy art district, with a 19-story digital canvas of LED lights creating an impressive video display and giving way to an electric feel. Inside, the pulse of Miami continues, and meeting guests can immerse in Southern Florida culture and traditions all within the hotel thanks to a rotating calendar of salsa lessons, art shows and Latin cooking demonstrations.

Miami starts here, and meeting guests with a busy schedule get an authentic feel for the city throughout their stays at InterContinental Miami. At the intersection of the city’s business and arts and entertainment district, the hotel has immersive cultural programs, artist residencies, dishes with Pan-Latin flair in addition to meeting spaces that are elegant and adaptable.

Now, to further solidify its reputation as a hotel that encapsulates the vibrancy of the city, InterContinental Miami is in the midst of a $36 million renovation to transform the resort’s 653 guest rooms and suites as well as the hotel’s 29th floor Club Lounge. Luxury cabanas are also set to debut on the rooftop pool.

“We have a forty-year history in this market, offering our guests an opportunity to experience Miami’s tropical charm and lively culture in a luxury setting,” said InterContinental Miami’s General Manager Glenn Sampert. “This refresh shows our dedication to our guests’ comfort and engagement while solidifying our position at the forefront of the city’s luxury downtown hotels.”

The hotel’s refresh is scheduled to be complete by summer 2023. During the renovation, InterContinental Miami will remain open with no impact to other areas or guests coming to the property for meetings or staying at the resort.

InterContinental Miami staff members pride themselves on being experts in the local community, offering planners an authentic immersion into the city. Ahead, learn more about how the hotel’s design and experiences are another extension of Miami hospitality.

Reimagined Guest Rooms and Suites Inspired by Atlantic Views and Miami Skyline

InterContinental Miami tapped international design firm Wimberly Interiors to oversee the project. The award-winning design firm specializes in “choreographing spaces.”

For the remodeling, designers referenced the stunning views of Biscayne Bay and the always-evolving downtown skyline to pull in a true-to-Miami color palette with nautical blues as well as coral that’s reminiscent of striking sunset hues that paint the skies. Other muses for the project included the vibrancy of Miami and the luxury hotel’s iconic design.

In perfect complement to the hotel’s status as an internationally recognizable Miami landmark, the new room and suite enhancements continue the Magic City mood—matching the tranquility of its waterfront setting with the excitement of the continually evolving vibrant city. The design will strike a balance between crisp modern elegance and calming tropical style.

Forthcoming upgrades include enhanced technology in all rooms as well as completely reimagined guest bathrooms with white subway tiles, illuminated LED mirrors and walk-in showers.
